Hatchery personnel from Fish and Game’s Magic Valley Region will be stocking approximately 33,050 10-12” catchable-sized rainbow trout in September. The stocking date and numbers of fish are approximate.

2026 Upland Game Bird Forecast
Upland game birds are sensitive to environmental factors — like temperature and precipitation — and can substantially vary in number from year to year. Coming into the nesting season, weather conditions were similar to the warm and dry conditions experienced in 2025 across much of Idaho. Because of drought conditions, birds will likely concentrate around water sources, particularly early in the season.
New access easement opens route to public lands in Kelsaw Canyon
Hunters and recreationists will now have access into Kelsaw Canyon in game management unit 57 this falls thanks to a partnership between Arimo Corporation, the U.S. Forest Service, and Idaho Department of Fish and Game.
Rainbow trout stocking schedule for September 2026 in the Clearwater Region

IDFG removes young black bear from a Pocatello neighborhood
On Aug. 31, Idaho Fish and Game received a report of a young black bear in the backyard of a residence in a south valley neighborhood of Pocatello. The bear was captured and then released to a location away from town.
