Trapper education course planned Dec. 7 in Salmon
Idaho Fish and Game will host a trapper education course in Salmon on Saturday, December 7. The course will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fish and Game’s regional office at 99 Highway 93 North.
Wolf trapper education course offered in Salmon Nov. 2
An instructor-led wolf trapper education course will be offered in Salmon on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Idaho Fish and Game office located at 99 Highway 93 North. This course is usually offered just a few times a year locally - so if you need to complete the course, sign up now.
Youth pheasant hunt scheduled Oct. 5 in Salmon
Practice firearms safety, develop shooting skills, and hunt pheasants with an experienced mentor at the youth pheasant hunt in Salmon on October 5. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is designed for youth ages 10-17 with a valid hunting license or Hunting Passport.
September trout stocking schedule for the Salmon Region

Instructor-led combo hunter and bowhunter education class offered in Salmon
An instructor-led hunter & bowhunter combination course is scheduled Aug. 26-30, from 5-9 pm each evening in Salmon. This course will certify students in both hunter and bowhunter education and is designed for youth 9 years of age or anyone new to hunting.
Young black bear trapped and relocated from Salmon
On Thursday, August 8, a black bear was trapped and relocated from within the city limits of Salmon. Bears within the city limits are becoming a fairly regular occurrence due to the high level of unnatural food sources such as bird feeders, grain left out for deer, and unsecured garbage and pet food. New fishing pond created near Salmon
In honor of Val B. Johnson, an Air Force Veteran, a former outfitter, and a well-respected teacher at Salmon High School for over 25 years, the 6.5-acre pond is now available for anglers thanks to an agreement with the Johnson Family. At nearly 6.5 acres, Johnson Pond is now the largest community fishing pond in the Salmon Region and was recently stocked with over 1,000 rainbow trout from Idaho Fish and Game’s Mackay Fish Hatchery.

Before the kids head back to school, it’s a perfect time to grab your fishing gear and go fishing. Idaho Department of Fish and Game will stock over 12,640 catchable-sized (10 to 12-inch) rainbow trout in the Salmon Region during August.
