Advisory Groups, Working Groups, and Committees

Public advisory groups and committees offer opportunities for people to engage and partner with Fish and Game staff on fish and wildlife-related matters. Members participate in discussions and develop recommendations for the agency and Idaho Fish and Game Commission during the decision-making process.

Below is a list of current advisory groups and committees.

Non Resident Tag Issuance Advisory Working Group

The purpose of the Non-Resident Tag Issuance Advisory Group is to review current processes for how Idaho Fish and Game issues general season deer and elk tags to nonresidents, and to develop recommendations to the Commission on potential changes and improvements.

The purpose of the Hunting and Advanced Technology (HAT) Working Group is to assess public perspectives on what is and is not considered “fair” technology to use in the pursuit of game and develop recommendations to the Commission that strike an appropriate balance between the use of hunting technology and fair chase ethic.

Citizen Shooting Range Advisory Committee

The Citizen Shooting Range Advisory Committee consists of members of the public who actively use shooting ranges and are familiar with the elements for safe public shooting ranges in their communities. They also represent a diversity of shooting opportunities that include hunters, recreational and competitive shooters.

Southeast Idaho Mule Deer Advisory Committee

The Southeast Idaho Mule Deer Advisory Committee is a 12-member committee of mule deer hunters with goals to evaluate current hunting opportunities and identify potential new hunting seasons that will be publicly acceptable, allow hunters to participate annually, create a more desirable buck component of the mule deer population, and improve the experiences of hunters.
