Idaho Fish and Game

Priest River Fisheries

Priest River is part of the Lake Pend Oreille system, and it provides important habitat for native fishes such as westslope cutthroat trout and bull trout, as well as other species. However, due to warm summertime water temperatures, the river no longer supports strong trout populations as it did in the past. By its very mission, Idaho Fish and Game is interested in restoring and enhancing Priest River in order to preserve, protect, perpetuate and manage the river's fishery.
