Grab your fishing pole, pack the cooler, and don’t forget your fishing license!   Over 11,000 catchable-sized rainbow trout are headed to various southeast Idaho fisheries during July.  Fish on!

Here's a fish story for you:  a white sturgeon nearly 5 feet long was rescued from a narrow canal in southeast Idaho and released to the Snake River.

Idaho Fish and Game personnel responded to reports of moose in and near Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello. The moose were captured and moved to a remote location in the region.

In 1993, there were roughly 200 American white pelicans occupying Blackfoot Reservoir; by 2007 breeding pelicans reached a high of 3,400. During the same timeframe, spawning cutthroat trout in the upper Blackfoot River collapsed. What happens when a novel predator and vulnerable prey cross paths? Fish and Game managers are working to find the key to unlocking a solution for both species.

Previous restoration efforts benefitting cutthroat trout recovery in Bear Lake have involved rotenone treatments to eliminate nonnative brook and rainbow trout.  Fishery managers are interested in what the public thinks about application of this same management concept to the lake's largest tributary, St. Charles Creek.  Have questions?  Comments?  Consider attending the public meeting scheduled for the end of June!

This always popular Ladies and Girls Hunter Education Class is a fun and educational setting for female students  taught by female hunters who are eager to share their knowledge and passion about hunting, safety, and ethics in the field.   Who knows?  You might even find a new hunting buddy in the class!

The Take Me Fishing Trailer event scheduled at Jensen Grove Pond in Blackfoot on June 14 has been canceled due to low water levels.  However, the event has been relocated to another popular Southeast Region fishery!
