Idaho Fish and Game

Hagerman WMA Ponds, Riley Creek, opening dates

Proposal

Align season opening and closing dates for ponds on the Hagerman Wildlife Management Area to March 1 and October 31, respectively.

Rationale

The Hagerman Wildlife Management Area is primary managed for waterfowl, but also provides popular fishing opportunity on a series of 10 ponds and a section of Riley Creek  (including Anderson Ponds, Bass Pond, West Highway Pond, Oster Lakes, Riley Pond, and Settling Pond).  Currently, these waters are managed under three different sections with different opening or closing dates.

This proposal would adopt the same opening and closing dates for all the ponds and creek section on the WMA. This would simplify the regulations and increase fishing opportunity, while maintaining adequate protections for waterfowl.

Review the proposal below and submit by June 10, 2024, at 6 p.m. MDT.

After reviewing feedback and considering agency goals, season recommendations will be presented to the Commission for their consideration at the July 2024 meeting.
