Browse speciesCongratulations to Aaron Goettsche of Stansburry Park, Utah on setting a new catch-and-release state record for Lake Trout. Aaron caught the massive 42-inch Lake Trout while trolling Payette Lake near McCall. Thanks to proactive efforts by Idaho Fish and Game biologists to reduce Lake Trout numbers and increase kokanee stocking, both Lake Trout and kokanee fishing have improved noticeably. Another state record may be imminent as surveys show Lake Trout to be growing to trophy sizes once again.
Idaho Power’s recreation access point in the section of C.J. Strike Reservoir known as The Narrows, is closed until Aug. 1 while the company upgrades the docks there.
Do you know someone that needs to complete a hunter education course before hunting season this fall? Two instructor-led courses will be held in Salmon this summer that are designed for youth 9 years of age or older. Both courses will be held at the Idaho Fish and Game office at 99 Highway 93 North. Space is limited and advanced registration is required by registering online or by visiting any Fish and Game office. Cost is $9.75 per student.
