Fish and Game, campus security staff and Lewiston Police officers searched the area but did not locate the animal. Sightings like these serve as a reminder for residents to stay cautious and be aware of their surroundings to protect themselves and their pets.
The Idaho Fish and Game Citizens Shooting Range Advisory Committee will hold its second meeting on Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. MST at Fish and Game's headquarters building at 600 S. Walnut Street in Boise. The meeting will be streamed live via Zoom. There will be no opportunities for public comment or interaction with the committee during the meeting.
Several classes will be offered in the Clearwater Region in the coming months. Students in these hands-on classes will learn about safe gun handling, hunting equipment and techniques, hunting regulations, ethical hunting practices, and wildlife ID. Some of the classes also include bowhunter certification. All the classes are led by IDFG-certified hunter education instructors.
Attention Trappers! A bobcat check-in will be held at Rae Bros. Sporting Goods, 247 E. Main Street on Saturday, February 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each trapper will be charged a $1.75 administration fee and $3 per pelt.
By spawning fish that have successfully migrated and returned to the South Fork, the program seeks to enhance a steelhead population more locally adapted to the South Fork. This program provides a great way for anglers to engage and contribute to a more robust, localized steelhead population in the South Fork Clearwater River.
Idaho Fish and Game will be hosting four public meetings for anglers to provide comments and opinions for spring/summer Chinook salmon fisheries. The meetings are slated for February, are free to attend, and (best of all) complimentary pizza and beverages will be provided.
Most anglers that wind up atop the Idaho state record fish leaderboards do so out of pure luck. But Robert Gregory’s story goes a little different. The mere act of even catching a Yellowstone cutthroat is a bucket list for many anglers.
Hatchery personnel from Fish and Game’s Magic Valley Region will be stocking approximately 6,400 10-12” catchable-sized rainbow trout in February. The stocking date and numbers of fish are approximate.
