The NatureServe network of Natural Heritage Programs and Conservation Data Centers, currently totalling more than 80 programs, are located within all 50 states, Canadian provinces, Latin America, the Carribean, and South America-rank the rangewide (GRANK or global rank) and state (SRANK or state rank) status of plants, animals, and plant communities on a scale of 1 to 5.
Idaho Fish and Wildlife Information System (IFWIS) is a member of NatureServe and houses the Idaho Natural Heritage data. The IFWIS Species Diversity Database management team does not receive 100% of its funding from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. Instead, we depend on building relationships with federal and state agencies, private industry, and non-governmental organizations that become annual sustaining partners.
