Grizzly bear mistakenly shot and killed by a hunter in North Idaho

On the morning of June 8, a nonresident hunter shot and killed a male grizzly bear he mistook for a black bear. The bear was killed in Idaho’s Panhandle, north of Upper Priest Lake. Spring brings lots back to life after a cold, dark winter, including grizzly bears. Idaho Fish and Game Staff in the Panhandle Region have recently confirmed the presence of grizzly bears in areas of GMUs 3 and 4A.
