Licenses, Tags and Permits – Nonresident

To hunt and fish in Idaho you will need a license, and you may need a tag or permit, as well. Below is a full list of licenses, tags and permits and how much they cost for nonresident hunters and anglers.
  • Access / Depredation Fee

    A license buyer is required to pay this annual fee when purchasing their first annual license of the year. It will not apply to any additional annual licenses purchased later in the year, nor is it required to purchase a daily license. More info

      Nonresident youth of any age who want their own fish limit must buy a Junior fishing license.

    • $ 91.75Hunting - Junior Mentored (10-17 yrs)
      Anyone hunting with this license must be accompanied in the field by an adult license holder close enough to be within normal conversation or hearing range without shouting or the aid of electronic devices. 9-year olds may purchase this license to enter a controlled hunt, if they will be 10 years-old at the time of the hunting season.
      New! This license now includes a 3-day fishing license. NOT valid to hunt pheasant for first 5 days of pheasant season.

  • Nonresident Disabled American Veterans (DAV) License Fees

      Must present a letter from the Veterans Affairs office showing a percentage of disability of at least 40% disability. Includes 3-day fishing. NOT valid to hunt pheasant for first 5 days of pheasant season.

      Reduced Price To be used only in designated units, NOT Statewide. Second To be used only in designated units, NOT Statewide.

      Subject to nonresident tag quotas and limits. Valid to take a black bear or mountain lion, if a season is open for that species, instead of a deer where and when the deer tag is valid, and there is an open deer season in that same unit.

      Mentored Extra must have either a Junior Mentored hunting or a Junior Hunting Passport. Those with a Junior Mentored hunting license must be accompanied by an adult with a tag(s) for the same species.

      Mentored Extra must have either a Junior Mentored hunting or a Junior Hunting Passport. Those with a Junior Mentored hunting license must be accompanied by an adult with a tag(s) for the same species.

      Nonrefundable fee to apply for most NONRESIDENT controlled hunts.
    • $ 45.75 * Controlled Hunt Application Fee (moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat)
      Nonrefundable fee to apply for moose, bighorn sheep, and mountain goat NONRESIDENT controlled hunts.
    • The following tags are only available as controlled hunts. Prices for tags with general hunts listed above.
    • $ 2,626.75 Bighorn Sheep
      Entire tag amount plus nonrefundable application fee must be submitted at time of application. (Tag Fee + Regular App. Fee = Trophy Species App. Fee) If unsuccessful, applicant is refunded all but the regular application fee.

      Entire tag amount plus nonrefundable application fee must be submitted at time of application. (Tag Fee + Regular App. Fee = Trophy Species App. Fee) If unsuccessful, applicant is refunded all but the regular application fee.

      Applicants submit application fee to enter drawing for tags. Tag fee applies ONLY if drawn.
