Winchester State Park Waterfowl Hunt

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game and Winchester State Park have agreed to allow limited public hunting for all waterfowl game species on this state property in Game Management Unit 11 for the 2023 hunting season. This is a voluntary program whereby Winchester State Park does not receive compensation for participation. In return for providing limited hunting access, IDFG agrees to manage and interface with hunters and respond to questions about the property.

  • Take 21st St to US-12 E 1. 
  • Head southeast toward Nez Perce Dr 2.

Location Things to Know

Hunting on this property is a privilege, and only possible because of willing participation by Winchester State Park. As a result, a continuation of this program is contingent on hunters following the managed hunt rules specific to this property.  Permission to access this property is subject to adherence to the rules outlined below. 

The following are specific rules hunters will be required to follow at Winchester Lake:

  • Max of 4 hunters per blind
  • Only hunt in the designated blind location that you registered for.
  • Leave the blinds as you found them, do not leave any trash including shell casings.
  • A.M.hunting hours are from half an hour before sunrise to 11:30.
  • P.M. hunting hours are from noon to sunset.
  • Sign up on IDFG website and carry proof of your registration with you.
  • Hunters can sign up 1 week in advance and are allowed to sign up a maximum of 3 times per week.
  • Safety first! Respect others and be cautious of your shooting zone around anglers, hikers and other hunters. Be courteous of other state park users.

Hunters must carry proof of your registration with you. Violations of the rules can result in denial of future access, and/or criminal prosecution for trespass.
