Bull Elk Poached on Willow Creek Summit

idfg-staff
Fish and Game Officers are seeking information in the illegal shooting of a six-point bull elk sometime during the night of October 30th. The animal was found approximately _ miles from the top of Willow Creek Summit on the south side. From evidence gathered at the scene, officers were able to determine that the bull was shot along the highway and ran approximately 75 yards before dying. The bull was field dressed and left at the site; none of the meat was harvested. One controlled hunt for bull elk was open at the time this bull was shot. However, given the circumstances in which this animal was killed, it appears that this is a clear-cut case of illegal take as well as waste of the animal. The person or persons responsible have stolen this bull from all ethical and responsible hunters who might have had the chance to harvest this animal in the future. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact Conservation Officer Dave Silcock at 681-4702. Or you can call the Citizens Against Poaching Hotline at 1-800-632-5999.
