Portions of the Boise River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) impacted by the Mile Marker 14 fire are now closed. The closure includes all burned areas on both sides of State Highway 21, all of Highland Valley Road, and all trails within the burned area.

First sockeye of 2016 arrives in Stanley

Idaho Fish and Game crews welcomed the first sockeye of the summer back to the Stanley area on Tuesday, July 19. The fish completed a 900-mile journey that included crossing through eight dams and swimming 6,500 vertical feet of elevation from the ocean to Stanley.

Mile Marker 14 Fire Continues to Burn on a Portion of Boise River WMA

The fire began Tuesday afternoon near Hilltop Summit on State Highway 21. Afternoon winds quickly helped the fire expand to several hundred acres.

Fly fishing has been good to downright hot on the St. Joe this year. Flows are now getting low enough that most of the river is wadeable. Last year's trend surveys showed the abundance of 12 inch and bigger fish has continued to improve.
More Chinook released in the Boise River

A third round of Chinook salmon was stocked in the Boise River Thursday, July 14.
