Waterfowl hunters heading to Fort Boise Wildlife Management Area this season will face a major change: as of July 1, the WMA is open only from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Access outside those hours is prohibited. The same rule also applies at the nearby Roswell Marsh Wildlife Habitat Area.
Idaho Fish and Game staff have posted signs at all entry points to notify users of the restriction, which is designed to address not only illegal camping but also vandalism, theft, drug use, and other property damage that have plagued the areas at night. Neighboring landowners have also raised concerns about after-hours activity.
Waterfowl Hunters: Know Before You Go
- No access allowed onto Fort Boise or Roswell prior to 5 a.m.
- Waterfowl hunters may use parking areas before 5 a.m.
- Hunters and anglers launching boats from the Fort Boise WMA boat ramp are exempt from the new user hour restrictions
