A whitetail buck was shot and left to waste along Mount Idaho Grade east of Grangeville. The deer was shot between the evening hours of Sunday, Oct. 19 and 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20.

The shooter(s) made no attempt to recover the deer. Only the head was taken. Evidence at the scene indicates that the shooter shot from the road and did not attempt to retrieve the animal. Fish and Game has investigated multiple big game animals shot and wasted by poachers in the Clearwater Region. Mount Idaho Grade is a well traveled road and it is hoped that another motorist may have noticed the guilty party or their vehicle. Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible. Anyone having information about this poaching incident or others is encouraged to call the Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) hotline at (800) 632-5999 or IDFG Clearwater Region (208) 799-5010. Anyone providing information can remain anonymous.
