    F&G Commission sets migratory game bird seasons and adjusts wolf hunt in two units

    Meeting by conference call on April 11, the Idaho Fish and Game Commission set seasons for migratory game birds for 2019-20, and amended wolf hunting seasons in Units 51 and 50 for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.

    The seasons for migratory game birds will remain mostly the same as the 2018-19 seasons, with a few exceptions:

    Sandhill crane tags available August 1

    Hunters are reminded that Sandhill crane will be available first-come, first-served starting at 10 am MDT, August 1 at Fish and Game offices, license vendors, online at https://idfg.idaho.gov/buy-online, or by calling 800-554-8685.

    Seasons begin September 1-15 or September 16-30, depending on tag type. The daily limit is two birds for all hunts, and the season limit is two birds for each hunter.

    Hunting occurs in eastern Idaho with one of the purposes to help reduce crop damage.

    Mourning dove, sandhill crane, and early goose seasons open Sept. 1

    The 2017 mourning dove, sandhill crane, and early Canada goose seasons open Friday, September 1.

    The mourning dove season runs through October 30, with a daily bag limit of 15 and a possession limit of 45.

    Eurasian collared-doves are an introduced species that have expanded their range into Idaho. There is no daily bag or possession limit for Eurasian collared-doves. They will not count as part of the aggregate bag limit of mourning doves as long as they are identifiable.

    Hunters are reminded that Sandhill crane will be available first-come, first-served starting at 10 am MDT, August 1 at Fish and Game license vendors, online at https://idfg.idaho.gov, or by calling 800-554-8685.

    Seasons begin September 1-15 or September 16-30, depending on tag type. Tag numbers were increased in all hunt areas to a total of 550 tags. The daily limit is two birds for all hunts, and the season limit is two birds for each hunter.

    Hunting occurs in eastern Idaho, with one of the purposes to help reduce crop damage.

    The 2016 mourning dove, sandhill crane, and early Canada goose seasons open Thursday, September 1.

  • Sandhill crane tags available starting August 1

    Hunters are reminded that Sandhill crane will be available on a first-come first-served basis beginning at 10 a.m. (MDT) August 1.
