Create archery-only spring wild turkey hunt in Panhandle Region
Proposal
Create an archery-only spring wild turkey hunt from April 1–14 in the Panhandle Region.
Justification
Wild turkeys are very common throughout the Panhandle Region. This proposal provides additional hunter opportunity to hunt wild turkeys during spring with archery equipment and would allow mentors to hunt alongside youth hunters during the youth season.
It is anticipated this proposal may help distribute hunters across the region and throughout the season. There should be minimal impacts to regional wild turkey populations.
The public comment period runs through 6 p.m. MST, December 3, 2023.
After reviewing feedback and considering agency goals, season recommendations will be presented to the Commission for their consideration at their January 2024 meeting.
