Idaho Fish and Game is seeking comments on its 2026-2027 Migratory Game Bird Season proposals.
Review the draft proposal below and submit comments by March 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
After reviewing feedback and considering agency goals, season recommendations will be presented to the Commission for their consideration via conference call on April 9, 2026.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service approved the STANDARD (60 days; 15-bird bag) regulatory alternative for the 2026 season, which allows for a maximum firearm season of 60 days, occurring between September 1 and January 15. Furthermore, extended falconry seasons are those dates outside of regular, special, or experimental firearm seasons when migratory game birds may be taken by falconry. The combined length of the extended falconry season and regular season must not exceed 107 days.
The proposed statewide firearm season structure for doves is:
September 1, 2026 – October 30, 2026
Proposed daily bag limit: 15 mourning and white-winged doves in the aggregate.
Possession limit: three times the daily bag limit.
The proposed statewide extended falconry season for doves is:
October 31, 2026 – December 16, 2026
Proposed daily bag limit: 3 mourning and white-winged doves in the aggregate.
Possession limit: three times the daily bag limit.
