Panhandle Zone: Remove general season antlerless elk seasons on A and B Tags.
Region-wide antlerless harvest has been high, but declining after the general antlerless season was returned to the A and B tags in 2017. This restoration of antlerless opportunity unfortunately coincided with back-to-back severe winters where we saw very low calf elk survival. General antlerless opportunity was removed from Unit 4 in 2023 which displaced hunters to adjacent Units during the any-sex portion of the season. Unit 6 has the highest antlerless harvest density in the Panhandle and increasing issues with elk vulnerability due to extensive timber harvest. Remaining Panhandle Units with general antlerless seasons cannot sustain increased antlerless harvest.
