Magic Valley Region
Elk
Overview Summary and Rationale
Efforts to reduce elk numbers have been successful. Modeling suggests the current tag allocation (700) will maintain elk numbers consistent with objectives in the elk management plan while maintaining over-the-counter opportunity. Shortening the season is intended to reduce disturbance on wintering elk in an attempt to mitigate elk displacement to private property along the Bennett Front.
