Wolf Trapper Trainings Scheduled In Orofino and Grangeville

Trappers interested in pursuing wolves are reminded that Idaho rules require trappers complete a wolf trapper training course before they can purchase a wolf trapping tag. Wolf trapper training courses are set from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Orofino on February 9 and Grangeville on February 11. These courses will likely be the last courses offered before the wolf trapping season closes March 31. Pre-registration is required by contacting the Clearwater Fish and Game office at 208-799-5010. The courses are first-come, first-served and limited to 30 individuals each. An $8 fee covers the cost of materials. Lunch will not be provided. Emphasis will be given to trapper ethics and responsibilities, safety, selective techniques, effective sets and trapping laws and regulations. This course is a one-time education requirement in order to trap wolves. To date, nine courses have been held in local communities with more than 270 trappers certified.
