Waterfowl Season Open House Slated in Lewiston

LEWISTON - - Waterfowl hunters in Idaho have a chance to comment on proposed 2014-2015 duck and goose seasons during an upcoming open house scheduled Friday, August 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Clearwater Regional office, 3316 16th Street in Lewiston. The open house format allows visitors to attend anytime during the session and visit with Fish and Game personnel about the proposals. Those unable to attend the open house can submit their comments online by visiting the Department's website: https://fishandgame.idaho.gov/content/webform/2014-2015-waterfowl-seaso…; or by mail to: 2014-15 Waterfowl Seasons, P.O. Box 25, Boise, Idaho 83707. The deadline for public comment is August 8th. The Department has received the tentative waterfowl season framework from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which oversees waterfowl management at the national level. Proposed season dates for hunting waterfowl in the Clearwater Region are: Youth Waterfowl: September 27-28 Ducks: Area 2: October 11, 2014 - January 23, 2015; Scaup: November 1, 2014 - January 23, 2015. Proposed daily bag limit would be 7 ducks; but not more than 2 female mallards, 2 redheads, 3 scaup, 2 pintails or 1 canvasbacks. Canada & White-fronted Geese: Area 2: October 11, 2014 - January 23, 2015 Proposed daily bag limit would be 4 Canada geese. Proposed daily bag limit would be 10 white-fronted geese. This has been increased from a bag limit of 6 last season. Blue, Ross's & Snow Geese: Area 4: October 11, 2014 - January 23, 2015 Proposed daily bag limit would be 20 white geese. Information collected from across the state will be summarized and presented to the Idaho Fish and Game Commission, which will set the final waterfowl seasons at their meeting on August 11, 2014.
