Burbot have made an amazing comeback in northern Idaho. The Kootenai River Research Team has studied burbot since 1957, tracking the decline and resurgence of this unique, native species. In this video, the crew shares some of the history, research, biology and even fishing tips for Kootenai River burbot.
The best time to fish for burbot on the Kootenai River and tributaries is expected in February and March. During this time, burbot move to shallow waters to spawn. It's a great time to get out and try the Panhandle's newest fishery.
