Idaho Fish and Game is offering three trapper education courses this winter.

Upcoming courses include:

  • Coeur d’ Alene: March 11, 8 am to 5 pm, Fish and Game Office, 2885 W Kathleen Avenue

The course is open to persons of all trapping skill levels, including those who would like to become trapping instructors. Recognized by the International Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, the course is accepted nationwide by states that require a trapper education course to receive a trapping license.

Space is limited and registration is required. Participants must be at least 9 years of age and can register at any Fish and Game office or online by accessing the Hunter/Bowhunter/Trapper Education link on the Fish and Game website: https://idfg.idaho.gov/education.

The course fee is due at the time of registration. Registering at a Fish and Game office costs $8. Online registration by credit card requires an added convenience fee of $1.75.

Trappers should be aware of pending rules concerning mandatory trapper education will be reviewed by the 2017 Legislature.  If approved, beginning July 1, 2018, trappers who purchased their first trapping license on or after July 1, 2011 will be required to pass a trapper education course before they can purchase another Idaho trapping license.
