Idaho Fish and Game

Second Round Of Fish Rule Public Meetings Set

idfg-nnokkentved
The second round of public meetings on changes to fishing regulations for the 2011-2012 fishing seasons will be in the next two weeks. These meetings follow an initial round of meetings in March, when ideas the Idaho Department of Fish and Game had were presented to the public for consideration. Following comments from the public and internal review, Fish and Game will present formal regulation proposals during August. Once public comments are collected and analyzed, regional proposals will then be modified or forwarded on to the Fish and Game fisheries bureau and then to the Idaho Fish and Game Commission for final approval. If approved, these proposals would become effective January 1, 2011. Specific proposals to be discussed include extending fishing seasons on portions of the Henrys Fork, Teton River and Big Lost River as well as many smaller streams throughout the region. Also under consideration are changes to the fishing season on Henrys Lake. Anyone interested may attend public meetings scheduled as follows: All meetings start at 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 25 - Fish and Game office in Idaho Falls.
  • Thursday, August 26 - Mackay High School Auditorium.
  • Wednesday, September 1 - County Commission Room in the Driggs County Courthouse.
  • Thursday, September 2 - Ponds Lodge in Island Park.
Proposals can also be found at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/. Individuals with disabilities may request meeting accommodations by contacting Dan Garren at Idaho Fish & Game at 525-7290 or through the Idaho Relay Service at 1-800-377-3529 (TDD). Comments may also be sent via e-mail to dan.garren@idfg.idaho.gov. Deadline for comments is 5 p.m. September 3.
