Is your child planning on rifle hunting in Idaho this spring or fall? Are you interested in archery hunting? Seats are available at several hunter and bowhunter education course scheduled this spring throughout the Lewiston area. Students can view a list courses being offered and register online at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/education/hunter_ed or visit the Idaho Department of Fish and Game office at 3316 16th Street in Lewiston. "Waiting to take the course later this summer can cause problems," said James Reed, hunter education coordinator for Fish and Game. "Our volunteer instructors teach the majority of classes in the winter and spring, so take the course now if you can." Hunter and bowhunter education classes are also available online through Fish and Game's website. Students who choose this option must also register for and participate in a Field Day to complete the course. Anyone born after January 1, 1975, must complete a hunter education course to purchase an Idaho hunting license or show proof that they previously held a valid hunting license in Idaho or another state. To purchase an archery permit, all bowhunters must show proof they have completed an approved bowhunter education course or show evidence of having been licensed for an archery-only hunt in Idaho or another state.
