Public's Help Sought in Elk Poaching Case South of Grasmere

Idaho Fish and Game is asking the public for information regarding the recent poaching of two five-point bull elk near the Nevada border. The poaching incident took place in Idaho, just north of the Nevada border and just east of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation. It is believed the elk were poached sometime during September. Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) is offering a reward for any information in the case and callers can remain anonymous. Contact CAP at 1-800-632-5999 twenty four hours a day. During a routine patrol, Fish and Game Conservation Officers Brian Flatter and Kurt Stieglitz found the two bull elk shot and left to rot. Evidence collected at the scene indicated that both bulls were shot with a high-powered rifle. No attempt was made to retrieve any part from the carcasses. While evidence was collected at the scene, officers hope to learn more about the case from an eyewitness or others who may have knowledge of the poaching incident.
