Private Fish Producer Donates 120 Yellow Rainbow Trout

idfg-nnokkentved
Idaho Trout Processors, a southern Idaho fish producer, is donating 800 yellow-phase rainbow trout to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. About 120 of these unique trout, averaging 5 pounds each, will be stocked this Thursday, September 9, at McTucker Ponds between noon and 1 p.m. Specifically, ponds No. 4 and No. 8 will be stocked. Popular with anglers, these uniquely colored trout, sometimes referred to as banana trout, lack a certain pigment resulting in a light yellow color. They are not albinos, however. McTucker Ponds are near Aberdeen. To get there, from State Highway 39 that runs between American Falls and Blackfoot, turn south at mile marker 34.8 onto 1700 West (Stecklein Road) and go 2.7 miles to a "T" in the road. Turn right and travel one mile on 1075 South (River Road) to another "T," and turn left into the McTucker Ponds complex. You can also get to Highway 39 by way of Tilden Bridge, near the Fort Hall Reservation. Once on the highway use the same directions.
