Signs warn floaters of potentially deadly diversion dams along the Teton River

Fishing and other recreational pursuits which take you out on local waterways can be good fun, but if you’re not familiar with the area, there are potential dangers than can be deadly if ignored.

This fall, as part of an Eagle Scout project, eight warning signs were installed on the banks of the Teton River. These signs aim to alert waterway users of dangerous diversion dams and private waterways along the Teton.

Signs were installed at the following locations:

  • Hog Hollow Bridge
  • Teton splitter
  • Wilford Canal
  • Cross Cut Canal
  • Monkey Rock

Diversion dams, no matter the size, can be unpredictable and dangerous. Please stay safe and exit the river upstream of dams.
