Idaho Fish and Game

Motorized Hunting Rule in Effect

idfg-sliebenthal
Hunters heading out this fall should be aware that thirty hunting units in Idaho fall under the motorized hunting rule. The rule states motorized vehicle use by all big game hunters is restricted to established roadways legally open to travel by full-sized automobiles. The rule applies to people hunting big game animals, including moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goats, in designated units (see link to map below) from August 30 through December 31. To learn more about what you can and can't do when hunting on your motorized ORV, check page 105 of the 2014 Big Game Regulations, stop by your regional office and pick up a brochure, or go to Fish and Game's website: http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/public/hunt/?getPage=152
