Mark your calendars: F&G will be hosting the Lake Pend Oreille 'State of the Lake' virtual public meeting on April 5

Similar to last year, a pre-recorded video presentation will be available on the Lake Pend Oreille fisheries webpage on April 1 to view at your convenience prior to the virtual event

It’s time for the annual Lake Pend Oreille “State of the Lake” meeting, and we want you to participate. Fishery staff from Idaho Fish and Game's Panhandle Region office will share updates on the Lake Pend Oreille fishery and activities planned for 2022 at the meeting.

The live virtual event will be held online at 6 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, April 5. To register for the event, visit our "State of the Lake" virtual meeting page. Registration is required, so don't wait!

State of the Lake Save the Date

Anglers and other members of the community who are interested in the status of the diverse fish stocks to which Lake Pend Oreille is home are encouraged to participate in this year’s meeting.

We regret that an in-person component to the meeting wasn’t possible. When meeting arrangements were made earlier in the winter, it was uncertain whether or not restrictions on large gatherings would be in place.

We plan to resume an in-person “State of the Lake” meeting next year. The good news is we had over 1,000 people watch last year’s virtual presentation, so the virtual format is allowing a large audience to participate.

How to participate

There are two important parts to the meeting, and we encourage you to participate in both to most effectively engage.

Part 1 is a pre-recorded video presentation that will be released on our "State of the Lake" virtual meeting page on April 1. It is not required for participants to watch the pre-recorded presentation, but it is highly encouraged as fishery staff will share background information about the fishery and the latest population trends and research related to kokanee, rainbow trout, lake trout, walleye and more. The public will be able to submit questions online starting April 1 on our Lake Pend Oreille Fisheries webpage; a direct link will be provided at that time.

Part 2 of the meeting will be a live virtual event that will include a very short introductory presentation followed by a question-and-answer session. The public will be able to submit typed questions during the live virtual event. Biologists will spend the majority of the live virtual event answering questions related to the pre-recorded video presentation.
