Little Salmon River Chinook Fishery to Close July 27

idfg-sliebenthal
Fish and Game Director Virgil Moore has signed an order closing the entire Little Salmon River to Chinook salmon fishing at the end of fishing hours on Sunday July 27, 2014. Fishery managers believe anglers are getting close to harvesting the non-tribal share of Rapid River Hatchery Chinook, so those wishing to fish the Little Salmon River have limited time remaining. Rapid River Chinook return to the Little Salmon River from the mouth upstream to Smokey Boulder Road. The majority of those fish return to the hatchery on Rapid River, but Fish and Game also releases smolts in the section upstream of Rapid River, so adult salmon will return to that section. Until July 27, anglers fishing downstream from the Pollock Bridge may only harvest adipose-clipped jacks (those Chinook less than 24 inches in length). Anglers fishing upstream from Pollock Bridge may harvest adipose-clipped adults and jacks. For additional rules including bag limits, go to: http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/fish/chinook/rules
