Leftover Controlled Hunt Permits On Sale July 16

Leftover controlled hunt permits for elk and deer will go on sale July 16 at all license vendors statewide, on a first-come, first served basis. The sale starts at 9:00 a.m.,Pacific Standard Time. There are no leftover tags available for antelope. Of the 14 controlled hunts for deer with permits available for purchase, only three are located in the Clearwater region: One permit for a mule deer buck in Game Management Unit 14; 46 permits for antlerless white-tailed deer in Unit 11A; and 70 permits for antlerless white-tailed deer in Unit 16. Of the 22 controlled hunts for elk with permits available for purchase, only one is located in the Clearwater region: 23 permits for anterless elk in Game Management Unit 13. A valid Idaho hunting license must be presented in order to purchase a leftover permit, and applicants must submit the appropriate application fees, permit fees and tag fees. Nonresidents may also purchase the permits and will not be restricted to the 10 percent quota that applies during the regular permit drawing. To avoid long delays, hunters are encouraged to obtain a hunting license prior to the permit sale.
