IDFG Implements Emergency Fire Restrictions in Upper Snake Region

IDAHO FALLS - Effective immediately, all IDFG (Idaho Department of Fish & Game) managed lands and access sites within the Upper Snake Region are under an open fire ban until further notice. According to Regional Habitat Manager Terry Thomas, "Increasingly dry conditions have caused us to restrict open fires on all Department managed lands and access sites in the region. Fireworks are always prohibited; we want to reinforce that point and especially want to make sure recreational shooters understand that tracer ammunition and exploding Tannerite type targets fall under this restriction." Shooters are also alerted to be cautious of the potential for fires started by ricochets or other sparks. The wildlife management areas covered by this announcement include: Tex Creek, Sand Creek, Mud Lake, Market Lake, Deer Parks, and Cartier Slough. All Department managed access sites such as boat ramps are also included. Signs are being posted at many areas, but the restrictions are in effect, whether or not signs are present.
