Fish Salvage Orders Cover Local Canals and a Reservoir

idfg-nnokkentved
Idaho Fish and Game has issued two fish salvage orders covering local canals in the Nampa subregion and an Owyhee County reservoir. The Bybee Reservoir in Owyhee County will be drained by September 20 to 25, because of an outlet gate mechanical failure. Over the following two weeks, storage water will be drained and the reservoir will dry out. Because the game fish will die, Fish and Game has lifted bag, possession and size limits on the reservoir, effective September 10 through October 15. Fish may be taken by any method except firearms, explosives, chemicals, or electric current. In addition, Fish and Game has lifted bag, possession and size limits on irrigation canals and ditches in the Nampa subregion, including the Ridenbaugh, New York and Lowline canals, that have been shut off. Fish may be taken by any method except firearms, explosives, chemicals, or electric current, effective September 10 through November 1. Sturgeon caught in salvage may not be retained, must be released alive immediately, and must be reported to the Nampa Fish and Game office at 208-465-8465. No live fish may be transported from the place of capture. A valid Idaho fishing license is required to salvage fish.
