Fish and Game Closes Boise River Wildlife Management Area

The Idaho Fish and Game has closed the Boise River Wildlife Management Area to public access to protect wintering big game. The closure includes Fish and Game lands in Ada, Elmore, and Boise counties known as the Boise River Wildlife Management Area. The area was closed to prevent wintering wildlife from wandering off of the wildlife management area because of human disturbance. "Our concern is that human disturbance of any kind during this critical time period will force animals to expend energy that they simply can't spare," Fish and Game regional conservation educator Evin Oneale said. "That could lead to animals running out of energy reserves prior to spring green up resulting in starvation and death." The closure is effective February 4, and remains in effect until March 31, unless rescinded earlier.
