F&G Commission to meet Nov. 15-16 in Lewiston

People can address the Commission in person on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. PST.

The Idaho Fish and Game Commission will meet Nov. 15-16 at the Fish and Game Clearwater Regional Office in Lewiston. A public hearing will begin on Nov.15 at 7 p.m. PST at the Clearwater Regional Office at 3316 16th St. Those wishing to speak to the Commission on topics pertaining to Fish and Game during the public hearing will have a three-minute time limit, with additional comments accepted in writing.

To ensure the safety of participants, wearing masks is encouraged and the seating will be socially distanced. Individuals wishing to speak to the Commission may be asked to wait in a separate room until it is their turn to speak if the meeting room is at capacity.

The Commission’s business meeting will resume at 8 a.m. PST on Nov. 16 at the same location and will be live streamed for the public, but there will be no public interaction with the Commission.

Some action items on the agenda include:

  • Commission is scheduled to adopt fishing seasons and limits for 2022-24 seasons. During March and April, Fish and Game staff completed public scoping regarding potential changes to seasons and limits and presented proposals to the Commission in July. Staff modified proposals based on public and Commission input and the Commission is expected finalize those seasons and limits.
  • Commission will hear a steelhead season update and consider a proposal to modify bag limits for the spring 2022 season. 
  • Commission will consider extending current fee discounts for certain types of turkey tags through 2022.
  • Get updates on nonresident deer tag allocations. 
  • Commission will consider for release a draft turkey management plan for the next six years and allow for public comment on the draft plan.
  • The Commission will review the current framework for falconry sage grouse tags. Fish and Game staff have proposed a discount order that would allow the Department to issue tags at no charge to falconers still possessing unfilled 2021 sage grouse tags. These tags would be valid in the 2022 falconry season.

Those unable to attend the business meeting in person can listen remotely, but will not be able to interact with the commission. The public hearing will not be broadcast.
