Commission Considers Coho Season

The Idaho Fish and Game Commission will be meeting at 1:30 pm MST today to discuss a proposed coho salmon fishery on the Clearwater River. This new sport fishery has resulted from the work of the Nez Perce Tribe which initiated a coho salmon hatchery program to restore coho to the Clearwater River basin. Due to an unexpectedly large return of coho this year, both tribal and sport fishing opportunities may be available on the Clearwater River. Commissioners will discuss proposed regulations and rules for the proposed coho salmon season. Today's meeting will be conducted via conference call.
