Beginning Fly Fishing Class Offered

What do roll casting, dry flies, false casts, and nymphs have in common? They are all part of fly fishing. If you have ever thought you would like to give fly fishing a try, your chance is coming soon. On Saturday, April 28, from 9am - 3pm, your Salmon Region Fish and Game will be holding a "Beginning Fly Fishing Clinic." Open to anyone ages 16 and over, this class will give you the chance to learn some of the basics of fly fishing. Equipment, knots, matching the hatch, and casting techniques will all be covered. The afternoon casting session will give you the chance to practice your newly learned techniques. Participants should bring their own equipment if they have it, but a number of rods and reels will be available for folks to borrow. Dress for the weather and bring a sack lunch. There will be a small fee to cover the cost of materials. For more information or to register, please call the Fish and Game office at 756-2271. Class size is limited so call soon to learn a new twist on just about everybody's favorite pastime!
