Bear hunters should be aware that bait is NOT allowed for black bear hunting in 8A and 10A during spring 2019 hunts.
Bait use is allowed in these units beginning in the fall 2019 season and continuing into spring & fall hunts in 2020, and the 2021 spring hunts.
The commission set seasons at last week’s meeting for black bear for the Fall 2019 hunts (which generally start August 30) and hunts through spring 2021. The brochure for the 2017/2018 seasons includes the spring 2019 black bear hunts. This timing is due to the time it takes to publish brochures after the commission’s big game seasons setting meeting in March.
