Ask Fish and Game: Wolf Tags

Q. I bought a 2011 wolf tag, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Is it still good for the rest of the season? A. No. Wolf tags for 2011 are no longer valid. Wolf tags, like most other tags including deer, elk, salmon and steelhead permits, are issued by calendar year, and they are valid only during the year for which they are issued. To hunt wolves in Idaho in 2012, a person must have a valid 2012 Idaho hunting license and a 2012 wolf tag. A 2012 wolf tag could be used during any open wolf hunt until December 31 this year. Trapping licenses and wolf trapping tags, however, are good from July 1 through June 30.
