Ask Fish and Game: Steelhead Fishing

Q. Is steelhead fishing closed everywhere in the state? A. Most steelhead fishing waters are now closed. But not all. The Little Salmon River from its mouth to the U.S. Highway 95 Bridge near Smokey Boulder Road is open to May 15. The Snake River from Hells Canyon Dam to Oxbow Dam and the Boise River from its mouth to Barber Dam both remain open until May 31. Anglers must have a valid 2010 Idaho fishing license and steelhead permit.
