About the position

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game Hayspur Fish Hatchery is seeking a Biological Aide starting October 1st.  (Start dates may be flexible). This position is located at the Hayspur Fish Hatchery located in Bellevue, Idaho. This is a Non-Benefited Biological Aide temporary position and is expected to work up to 40 hours per week. Housing is available for the employee only. No pets.

General Information
This position may perform spawning, activities that include variable schedules, working under adverse weather conditions, driving for long distances, stand and work in cold water, hitch and pull trailers. Operation of landscaping equipment, and/or UTV’s. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required. Incumbents working at fish hatcheries may work around toxic chemicals and heavy dust, high voltage, loud noises, and slippery services.
Qualifications
Applicants must be able to work well in a team environment and independently as needed, take direction and follow protocols effectively, and handle responsibility. Applicants must be well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and safety conscious. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Fish hatchery or fisheries related experience is strongly preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Perform routine fish husbandry duties; assist with spawning operations; weigh fish feed and feed fish; clean tanks, raceways and incubators; remove and enumerate daily fish and egg mortality; maintain facilities, grounds and equipment; operate power tools, pressure washers and landscaping equipment; operate fish loading and transport equipment, and stock fish; crowd and net fish; record biological data, data entry, and maintain various records and forms; provide hatchery tours; and/or observe fish for abnormal behavior.
