About the position

Fish Screen & Habitat Program – Monitoring & Evaluation (1 position):  

The Anadromous Fish Screen and Habitat Program in Salmon, Idaho is seeking 3 Fisheries Biological Aides (non-benefited) to be members of fisheries monitoring and evaluation crew. This position is part of an interdisciplinary team that operates a large fish screening and habitat restoration program throughout the Upper Salmon Basin. Incumbents will be members of a crew that monitors the abundance, distribution, and habitat use of salmonids. 

 

 

Qualifications
It is preferred that applicants have a Highschool diploma and job experience/training in some fisheries work. Applicants must be detail oriented and have the ability to work in close proximity with research collaborators, as well as alone with minimal supervision. Incumbent must be able, with or without reasonable accommodations, to lift up to 60 pounds, pack up to 40 pounds for several miles, camp, walk up to eight miles a day along stream banks and trails, and work in all weather conditions. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. Must accommodate a flexible schedule (holidays, weekends, and nights) and be willing to work for 10 consecutive days. 
Responsibilities
Primary duties include: stream electrofishing, snorkeling, habitat surveys, recording data, spawning ground surveys, operating and maintain PIT Tag detection systems, and maintaining all field equipment.
