The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Technical Records Specialist 1. The Technical Records Specialist 1 is part of the Enforcement Bureau. This position will be located at our Headquarters in Boise. This is a year-round temporary benefited position expected to work 30+ hours per week.

What We Offer: 

General Information:

This position works with extremely sensitive information. To be considered for this opening, you must not have any felonies or misdemeanor convictions. Candidates with misdemeanor convictions may be accepted with a waiver approved by the IDFG Enforcement Bureau Chief. You will also be required to pass a criminal background check and have your fingerprints taken and processed. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide office support for the Enforcement Bureau and Citizens Against Poaching Board members (CAP).
  • Provide external and internal customer support.
  • Answer questions regarding code and regulations.
  • Processing and tracking CAP rewards.
  • Monitoring and storing CAP hotline date and CAP emails.
  • Track International Wildlife Violator Compact notices and send out letters.

Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.)

  • Experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors. (Typically gained by having at least one year of experience (or more) monitoring records systems, identifying problems and correcting errors.)
  • Experience researching a variety of sources to resolve problems. (Typically gained through experience researching and compiling information in order to prepare reports that include recommendations.)
  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments. (Typically gained through at least one year of work experience with responsibility for reviewing documents or actions for compliance with laws, regulations, and/or policies or through explaining to others how laws, regulations or policies apply to specific situations.)
  • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system. (Typically gained by at least six months of experience in a work setting which required data to be entered and retrieved in a database records system or other computer records system.)

The ideal candidate will have good written and oral communication skills to work with the public and CAP Board members. The ability to multitask is necessary as this position has frequent interruptions. Some knowledge of law enforcement practices, and IDFG rules and regulations would be helpful, but not necessary. Have a strong interest in serving the mission of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, and will have knowledge and an appreciation for hunting, fishing, and trapping activities. Additional consideration may be given at the time of interview to candidates who have some knowledge or experience in hunting, fishing and trapping.
