About the position

We are seeking multiple technicians to monitor the spring-summer-fall Chinook Salmon fisheries in the Clearwater River basin and lower Salmon River. These are full time (40+ hours/week) non-benefited positions. Monitoring is typically four days per week, two weekdays and both weekend days. Housing (camp trailers) available on a limited basis for the employee. No pets. Occasional overnight stays (provided hotel, camp trailer, camping) may be required. 

General Information
This position will require the incumbent to travel to remote locations for data collection activities; require the physical ability to walk and backpack for several hours over rugged terrain and along waterways; stand and work in cold water for up to eight-hours per shift; lift and carry up to 60+ pounds with occasional lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds for short distances; and work in extreme weather conditions.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required)
• Some knowledge of life history, anatomy, and ecology of various fish species.
• Experience: recording, summarizing, and analyzing scientific data; diagnosing and repairing minor mechanical problems.
• Valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
Typical duties during fishery monitoring include interviewing anglers to collect effort and catch data using electronic data entry, collect genetic samples, scan harvested fish for tags, inventory biological samples, and upload electronic data. Early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.
