Wildlife Technician Senior
SPECIAL NOTIFICATION: This position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Wildlife Technician Senior. This position will be located at our Deer Parks Wildlife Management Unit located near Menan, Idaho. This is an 8 month benefited temporary position and is expected to work up to 40 hours per week. Housing is available for the employee only. No pets.

• Good knowledge of wildlife ecology and habitat requirements, and habitat development practices and procedures.
• Experience recording, summarizing, and analyzing wildlife biological data.
• Valid driver's license.
Minimum Qualifications Specialty: (These qualifications are required.)
• Some knowledge of supervisory practices.
• Operating and performing minor maintenance on equipment to include tractors, four-wheel drive trucks, off-road vehicles and/or motorized boats; using small hand and power tools.
• Some knowledge of working with private landowners on private land access programs, depredations, or habitat improvement projects
In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will have experience in wildlife ranch/farm experiences completing habitat related jobs in extreme weather situations. They also would have upper-level college education in wildlife related field or equivalent work experience. They also must be willing to make quick decisions in the field with equipment, irrigation issues and wildlife stewardship combined. Additional consideration may be given at the time of the interview to candidates who have this experience. Please be sure to include within your application any experience you have in these areas.

Idaho Fish and Game - We Make It Happen
1. Supervision. Typical duties: plans and develops work schedules; trains workers in data collection and habitat maintenance; monitors equipment use to ensure safety of workers and equipment; may hire temporary workers and volunteers and evaluate their performance.
2. Habitat maintenance and construction. Typical duties: plans and develops wildlife habitat management projects; prepares soil; plants, cultivates, and irrigates crops to improve wildlife habitat; maintains fences, roads, dikes, buildings, and grounds; assists in construction of new facilities.
3. Data collection. Typical duties: designs data collection forms and techniques; conducts wildlife counts and collects and compiles wildlife census data; traps and bands wildlife; monitors marked wildlife in the field; conducts field necropsy investigations; collects and processes biological samples; summarizes collected data and prepares preliminary analysis and reports; reviews data summaries to insure accuracy; maintains records of data collected and methods used; occasionally assists in enforcing fish and game laws.
5. Equipment operation. Typical duties: operates and maintains tractors and farm implements; uses hand tools and power equipment for maintenance and construction; may operate heavy equipment to build and maintain roads and dikes; inspects equipment to insure proper working order.
