The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking one (1) Biological Aide. This position will be located at our Clearwater Fish Hatcher located in Ahsahka, ID. This is an 5-month, non-benefited temporary position and is expected to work up to 40 hours per week. Housing is available for the employee only. No pets. The position will be from January 20, 2026 – June 22, 2026. Start date can be flexible upon request.
Supplemental Information:
Some positions may travel to remote locations for data collection and maintenance activities; require the physical ability to walk and backpack for several hours over rugged terrain and along water ways; stand and work in cold water for up to eight hours per shift; lift and carry up to 60+ pounds with occasional lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds for short distances; and work in extreme weather conditions. Frequent (overnight) in-state travel may be required. Incumbents working at fish hatcheries work with toxic chemicals and around heavy dust, high voltage, loud noises, and slippery surfaces.
Must be at least 18 years old
Possess a valid driver’s license
Experience following oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures
Experience interacting with the public in a professional setting
Cleaning and caring for fish in rearing units.
Data collection; data entry; sampling fish.
Maintaining grounds and equipment.
Operating landscaping equipment.
Power washing raceways.
Cleaning offices and hatchery facilities.
Other duties as assigned.
