The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Range Technician. The Range Technician position is part of the Communications Bureau. This position will be located at our Farragut Public Shooting Range in Athol, ID. This is a year-round non-benefit temporary position expected to work up to 19.5 hours per week. Schedule is Friday through Sunday and may include some evenings and holidays.

Supplemental Information:
With or without reasonable accommodation, able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. and remain standing for extended periods, including in adverse weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide positive and inviting customer service
- Promote shooting sports in a safe, ethical, and controlled environment.
- Interact with public shooting enthusiasts via check-in, screening, and oversight during all phases of shooting operations.
- Ability to supervise and control a shooting range firing line using basic commands.
- Provide additional office support via point-of-sales transactions for range use fees and third-party vendor use fees.
- Provide general range maintenance and upkeep.
Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.)
- Knowledge of firearm safety rules. Typically gained through a firearms safety course or a certified hunter education course.
- Working knowledge of firearms and their basic components. Typically gained through formal training, certified firearms courses, military or law-enforcement experience, or hands-on experience in a controlled and supervised environment.
- One year of experience with direct customer service including monetary transactions. Typically gained through work in retail, hospitality, food service, cashiering, or other customer-facing roles involving cash handling and payment processing.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Minimum Qualifications Specialty: (These qualifications are required.)
- Must have a National Rifle Association (NRA) Range Safety Officer certification or be willing to complete the program for certification.
In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, the ideal candidate will have shooting range safety officer experience. Additional consideration may be given at the time of the interview to candidates who have this experience. Please be sure to include relevant experience you have in this area.
